Our Job is to Love

And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

In a time when there is much uncertainty, how are you holding up? How are you doing?

First, just know that we, as a staff, are thinking about you and praying for our church family often. If you need an ear to listen or some wise counsel, we would love to help you. If not one of our staff, I encourage you to have one or two people that you feel safe to share things with. Don't hold on to big emotions - give them to God, and share them with those you trust.

Second, in these times where the world is changing so much, it's important that you know your job on the earth. Not knowing your assignment can lead to discouragement and hopelessness. Imagine going to work every day but not know what you're supposed to do. You would wander around the office, starting and stopping projects until you found something that felt like it was what you were supposed to be doing. Sheesh! You'd have a couple wins but overall, likely feel pretty unsuccessful. You need to be certain. Especially when it comes to your time on earth with God. You need to know without a doubt what God has asked you to do.

Let me share a small helpful thought:

I remember hearing Banning Liebscher, the founder of the massive worship ministry, Jesus Culture, speak about Romans 8:28 (above). He said that God told him, "Banning, your job is to love me and my job is to work things out. I'm really good at my job, get really good at your job." Your job in your city is not complicated or vague. Your job is to love God. Carve out alone time with Him. Make space in your calendar - daily if possible. This is the way!

When things are uncertain, and prayers don't seem to go unanswered, get back to your job description. Your job is to love God, delight in what He has done already and who He promises He is for you. Remember, it is His job to work everything out for GOOD - for YOU!

He is really good at His job, get really good at yours.

Blessings from the Staff at Presence. We love you and are praying for you!
