Dancing with Jesus

I love to dance. I am not a great dancer, but I love dancing. From attempting to ballroom dance with my husband (we took lessons…it was a laugh!), on the floor at a wedding or  just jiving on my own at home. All types of music (ok… I have a preference for musicals and worship).

Recently I was home alone. Doesn’t happen often.

Out came the speaker. On came the worship music. And I danced. There is a freedom as I express my love for Jesus in moving my body. It releases all inhibitions in glory to Him. Just as David did. And he was despised for it on occasions and yet he still danced for the Lord.

The bible talks a lot about dance. Let’s take a look at just a few.

Ecc 3:4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

Psalm 149:3 Let them praise His name with dancing an dmake music to him with timbrel and harp

Psalm 150:4 Praise Him with tambourine and dance; praise Him with strings and pipe!

What stops us dancing?

For me its often my pride – I will look silly or ridiculous.

But who cares? Isn’t our love for God more important!

Moving our bodies helps us to be more in tune with Him. It creates something in us that goes beyond the head and into our hearts. Can you imagine getting on the dance floor of a wedding and just standing there?

I encourage you to move. Start at home and then move on into a church service. Let us celebrate together!
